Day 4 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Today we docked at the pier in Puerto Vallarta directly across the street from Sams Club and Walmart.  Visiting exotic places and seeing unusual things is what this cruise is all about.

Thankfully, we booked a shore excursion which took us away from the city and down the coast line, via a catamaran, to a couple of beaches.  The cool weather is still with us and the 60 degree temperature felt even cooler on the water.  There were those on board that decided to try the snorkeling, we were not among them.  Good choice on our part.  The reports were not good as the visibility was bad due to the wind being strong and creating lots of waves which stirred up the sediment.  Not to mention the cold wind on your wet body.  We were able to go ashore and spend a nice afternoon on the beach.  The warmth of the sun was a great help in restoring our body temperatures.  We did see a couple of whales on our trip out.  Chris also took a picture, which I have included, of a gentleman who reminded her of her father.  When you see his knee high socks in shorts with one of the at half mast along with the rest of his getup you will understand.

The crew of the catamaran did a wonderful job of keeping us entertained.  Each of the crew members as they were introduce did a little dance to warm things up.  Toward the end of the excursion they put on a little performance of some Broadway tunes like “Singing in the Rain.”  The bar was open the entire trip and I am sure someone actually saw Gene Kelley reincarnate, perform at his best.

We scored our first victory at Trivia late this afternoon and now have a “Rotterdam” pin to show for our efforts.

Tonight the cast from our ship is putting on a Broadway review which we will attend.  Tomorrow we will be at sea, but the ship will have three venues for us to watch the Super Bowl.
